The National Weather Service’s Flood Warning for the Latham Park area has been extended until next Friday, Jan. 22.
Gauges on the Rock River at the location spiked to over 11 feet by Thursday afternoon. Flood stage at Latham Park is 10 feet, according to the NWS.
Levels are expected to decrease over the week with the river dropping back below flood stage on Thursday or Friday, though NWS warns that ice jams can cause sudden variations in water levels.
Residents are warned to pay attention to local conditions and avoid flooded areas.
Earlier this week, ice jams at the downtown Fordham Dam caused water levels to jump upstream.
