Grants are now being offered to units of government for funding Clean-Up Days throughout the county. Clean-Up-Days allow people in the area to dispose of waste such as tires, appliances, and others that may not be picked up by regular collection services. These can be one day events or drop-off points residents can use to drop off items for a period of time. Cleaning up a section of river in Ogle County may also be considered.
Maximum grant amounts are $2,000 and matching funds at a 50/50 ratio must be provided by the city, village or township. The matching funds can be met partially through paid labor by city or township staff, or by volunteer hours. Funds are limited so those interested are encouraged to apply early.
Arrangements should be made for separation and recycling of materials collected during the event . These materials may include scrap metal, appliances, tires, plastics, paper, aluminum and glass depending on services and outlets for the materials.
Applications will be reviewed by staff before being referred to the Ogle County Solid Waste Committee of the County Board. Grants will be issued on a first-come first-served basis.
