Veterans Memorial Hall, 211 N. Main Street, will be holding a pair of presentations in honor of Black History Month. The topic of these will be African American Veterans from World War II and Beyond.
On Saturday, February 20 guests will include three original Tuskegee Airmen and two of Rockford’s own veterans from the Korean War. This presentation will go from 1-4 p.m. with doors opening at noon.
The following day Veterans Memorial Hall welcomes six original Montford Point Marines to town along with two local veterans from the Vietnam War. This presentation also goes from 1-4 p.m. with doors opening at noon.
Both of these presentations will feature veterans sharing stories of their service, patriotism and unique understanding of what it was like to be an African American serving in the military during those times.
The cost for each of these is $5 with students and seniors being admitted free. Each of these events will have an autograph session in the Hall library following the presentation.
