The Ogle County Solid Waste Management Department (OCSWMD) will be holding its monthly electronics recycling drop-off for Ogle County residents on Friday, February 26 at the Ogle County Annex Building, 909 W. Pines Road, in Oregon. The event will run from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. sharp. Volunteers are needed to assist in unloading vehicles as well as sorting and stacking electronics. Volunteers will be offered lunch and a t-shirt for their help.
The following items are accepted for electronics recycling: all televisions, computer hardware, computer cable, monitors, laptops, tablets, printers, fax machines, phone systems, stereo equipment, DVD/VCR players, video gaming systems, cell phones, radios, digital clocks, CFL bulbs, rechargeable batteries and printer cartridges. Microwave ovens can be accepted for a $5 charge.Those wishing to pay this cost by check should make them out to Ogle County Solid Waste Management Department.
Items that are not accepted for recycling include: vacuum cleaners, smoke detectors, power tools, yard tools, coffee makers, fryers, ovens, white goods (appliances), air conditioners, dehumidifiers and humidifiers.
There isn’t a limit on the number of televisions that can be brought in for recycling, however dismantled or scavenged items are considered business electronics and will not be accepted through this program. OCSWMD staff will be available to assist with unloading and sorting of electronics.
