RAMP has announced their upcoming 17th Annual Stephenson County Wheel-A-Thon on Thursday, July 28th, 5:30 p.m. at Highland Community College/YMCA Sports Center, 2998 W Pearl City Road in Freeport.
This family-friendly event that takes an ordinary outreach event and introduces a disability awareness aspect by focusing on the abilities of people using a wheelchair. This year, the group has RAMPed up the event by adding door prizes, games along the route and a pig roast.
At the event a wheelchair will be shared by a team and decorated before the two-mile route begins. Participants collect donations and receive structured incentives from local community partners such as McDonald’s, Magic Waters, 4 Seasons Bowling and YMCA.
The Wheel-A-Thon supports RAMP’s mission to promote an accessible society that allows and expects full participation by individuals with disabilities.
Many local companies and organizations gather friends, family and co-workers to form teams and raise funds for RAMP. Organize a team for friendly competition and earn a t-shirt, Magic Waters passes, McDonald’s coupons, 4 Seasons Bowling passes and more.
Visit the Wheel-A-Thon website at classy.org/stephensoncowheelathon to register your team, sponsor a wheeler or make a donation.
