From April 11-May 12 The Art Box, 308 East Lincoln Highway in DeKalb, will be displaying Natural Rhythm, an exhibition of encaustics by Patricia Lagger of Aurora and photographs by Daniel Grych of DeKalb. An opening reception for the exhibit is scheduled for Sunday, April 10 from 2-4 p.m.
The works by these artists show how their experiences are intertwined through music and the changing of the seasons.
Patricia Lagger is both an artist and a musician. Lagger has also been a piano teacher, helping young students with their music. The encaustics Lagger displays are an art form as old as Egyptian mummies, and is a medium of painted colored wax. Lagger has had works displayed in various locations throughout the world, and is a member of FusedChicago, a Chicago based encaustics group.
Daniel Grych has been a resident of DeKalb since 1972, he arrived in DeKalb as a transfer student from Lyons with an associate of arts degree and finished with a bachelor of fine arts degree from Northern Illinois University in 1974. Grych’s works have been on display locally at the Ellwood House art fairs, the Norris Cultural Center, and the Art Institute of Chicago Art Rental and Sales Gallery.
