This weekend is RAAC ArtScene weekend and there is also plenty of music to enjoy! The Rockford Wind Ensemble will close their 2015-16 season with a concert titled ELEMENTS: Songs of Earth, Sky, Fire & Water on Sunday at 3 p.m. The RWE concerts are presented at the Nordlof Center, 118 N Main. The concert will feature music inspired by the four ancient elements.
The 43 piece ensemble is the area’s premiere concert band. They present family-friendly concerts featuring a variety of musical styles. According to conductor Kevin Jensen, the group is especially appealing to people who have experience playing in school bands.
“Anyone who enjoys music will thrilled by RWE performances“ said Jensen, “but there a hundreds of people who were involved in band in middle school or high school who have a unique appreciation of the hard work that goes into putting together an outstanding performance.”
Jensen has been conducting the Rockford Wind Ensemble since 2002 and received the Rockford Area Arts Council’s Mayor’s Arts Award in 2014.
RWE tickets, which cost $10 for adults; $5 for students & seniors, are available at the door, or by calling 815- 227-8550.
