University of Illinois Extension, in partnership with Klehm Arboretum & Botanic Garden, is offering a series of summer programs for area youth.
Young Explorers will investigate a variety of environmental science topics including Survival of the Fittest, Natural Art, Everywhere, Nature Detective to the Rescue, Be a Nature Superhero, Migration Station and The Amazing Race. Classes are scheduled on Tuesdays from 9-11:30 a.m. during the months of June (7, 14, 21) and July (12, 19, 26).
U of I Extension staff along with volunteers from the master gardener and master naturalist programs will assist in providing engaging, hands-on exploration activities.
Families may register for individual classes at $5 per child or register for the entire series (six classes) at a reduced rate of $25 per child. The Young Explorers program is appropriate for children 7 to 12 years of age. Parents or caregivers are encouraged to stay and participate.
Registration is required as space is limited. Program materials, lite snack, beverage, and entrance into Klehm Arboretum are included in the program fee.
