The Ogle County Solid Waste Management Department (OCSWMD) will be conducting an electronics recycling drop-off event on June 24, from 9 a.m.-4 p.m., at the Ogle County annex building located at 909 W. Pines Road in Oregon.
This event is only for residential electronics from Ogle County residents. Items accepted at the event include all televisions, computer hardware, monitors, printers, copiers, fax machines, shredders, computer cable, cell phones, laptops, tablets, DVD/VCRs, stereo equipment, radios, phone systems, video game equipment, ups devices, rechargeable batteries, CFL bulbs, printer cartridges, and microwave ovens. There will be a $5 for each microwave oven brought in for recycling. A full list of electronics accepted is also available at oglecounty.org.
The following items will not be accepted at the event: vacuum cleaners, appliances, humidifiers/dehumidifiers, coffee makers, fryers/grills, power tools, yard tools, fans, light fixtures, alkaline batteries, and packing from electronics such as boxes, Styrofoam, and plastic packing materials.
There will be OCSWMD staff and volunteers on hand to assist with unloading of electronics. Information will also be available on recycling and waste disposal. Reusable “green” shopping bags will be on sale for $1 per bag or 6 for $5.
This event is open to Ogle County residents only. Residents of other counties, businesses who wish to recycling electronics, and volunteers should contact OCSWMD at 815-732-4020.
