On this Fourth of July weekend, the Rockford Rivets plan to honor current and veteran armed forces members.
Each current and veteran armed forces member can get two free tickets to the best seats in the ballpark on Friday and on July 4.
In addition, area first responders have a chance to take in a game for free next week. All firefighters, police, EMTs and RNs will receive one free ticket for admission for the July 6 game against the Green Bay Bullfrogs, courtesy of the Illinois Fire Chiefs Association.
Friday, the Rivets will treat fans to a postgame fireworks show. On July 4, the Rivets will host their first Bark in the Park and an opportunity to play catch on the field with the players after the game. Fans of all ages are welcome to play catch.
The Rivets play the Kalamazoo Growlers at 6:35 p.m. on Friday, and the St. Cloud Rox at noon on July 4. Gates open an hour prior to game time.
Tickets can be obtaining in advance by calling 815-240-4159 or visiting the Rivets Stadium box office at 4503 Interstate Blvd. in Loves Park.
