Rock Valley College theater director Mike Webb announced he is remaining in his post, following months of speculation about his long term future with the school.
Webb, during his opening remarks of tonight’s production of Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, said that he would be staying in his role at the school, sending the audience into a raucous applause.
The longtime RVC servant had previously hinted at retirement, making clear his displeasure at the lengthy state budget impasse which had brought into doubt the future of the college’s theater programs.
However, Webb was in good spirits Friday night. Responding to an audience member’s question of what his favorite production during his time at RVC had been, Webb replied, “That’s like asking which of your children is your favorite child. That won’t work.”
The Starlight audience responded with another round of applause for the director.
Tickets are still available for one show on Saturday and two shows on Sunday. For more information visit rockvalleycollege.edu/Community/Theatre/starlight.cfm.
