Bowling lanes team up for veterans

Staff Report

Bowlers to Veterans Link (BVL), a national nonprofit charity dedicated to Brightening Veterans’ Lives, is proud to announce that six northern Illinois bowling centers will participate in a nationwide program to support BVL and America’s veterans through the “Bowl for Freedom” campaign. The event will be conducted August 12-14.

During this time, the centers will offer a special package featuring games; shoe rentals; hot dogs; and Pepsi products for 99 cents, plus specials on Leinenkugel’s beer. One hundred percent of the bowling proceeds will be donated to BVL.

“We are delighted that the Northern Illinois Bowling Centers will be joining in the “Bowl for Freedom” campaign,” remarked BVL Board Chair John LaSpina. “This is an exciting effort that can help us make a real impact in meeting the needs of America’s heroes recuperating in hospitals around the country. What’s more, it provides bowlers with a wonderful opportunity to save some money, enjoy a fun day out, and support BVL!”

All local bowlers, as well as military and veterans groups, are encouraged to take advantage of the “Bowl for Freedom” events with teammates, friends, and family.

“Here in northern Illinois, our bowling centers are committed to the veteran’s cause,” explains Northern Illinois Bowling Proprietors Association Executive Director John Anderson. “We understand the service and sacrifice of our nation’s service men and women, and we appreciate the opportunity to give back. We are behind this program 100 percent – from staff to customers to fellow community members.”
