Swedes, AHA host free Hispanic wellness fair

SwedishAmerican’s BetterLife Wellness and the American Heart Association are hosting a Hispanic Wellness Fair, Saturday, Sept. 17, 9 a.m. to noon at the UW Health Sports Factory, 305 S. Madison St.

Based on the American Heart Association’s Life’s Simple 7, the Hispanic Wellness Fair will provide small steps to make big changes with how-to booths featuring:

  • Manage Blood Pressure
  • Control Cholesterol
  • Reduce Blood Sugar
  • Get Active
  • Eat Better
  • Lose Weight
  • Stop Smoking

Attendees will visit each booth and have the option of getting their blood pressure and BMI checked; receive free health information on smoking cessation and weight management classes, diabetes and cholesterol management; and receive free nutritious recipe information.

SwedishAmerican providers will be on-hand to answer questions and there will be plenty of children’s activities taking place with the Rock River Valley YMCA. Lastly, several door prizes will be given away and everyone who attends will receive a free gift.

“We are extremely excited to host our first annual Hispanic Wellness Fair in downtown Rockford this fall,” says SwedishAmerican Holistic Health and Wellness Services Director Sharon Whelan. “The event will be fun for the whole family and will provide practical information for individuals who want to improve their overall health.”

The event is free and open to families and children of all ages. For more information call BetterLife Wellness at 779-696-9700.
