Producing your own electricity

IM_A0148_1What’s it like to produce your own electricity? The sense of independence, plus the delight at knowing you’re doing it and that once the system is installed, your electricity will be free, are rewarding.

On October 1, homeowners around the country will open their doors to visitors wanting to learn more about using renewable energy in their own homes and lives.

Once again, the Illinois Renewable Energy Association will host the north central Illinois tour.

This is a really big event, and we’re pleased that in our sparsely populated area we have as many installations with owners who are willing to discuss what it’s like to live with renewables, and to have as many interested members of the public as we have.

Plan to spend a little time with the people who want to help you learn about renewables. There’s no pressure, just information. Save the date: Saturday, October 1 from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Names and addresses of hosts will be provided on the week of the tour.DSCN1385
