Prairie Street Brewing Co. is happy to announce the imminent flight of its new fledgling restaurant/brewery, Owly Oop Sports Pub, upstairs at the recently opened UW Health Sports Factory, 305 S. Madison, in downtown.
UW Health Sports Factory is a sprawling 108,000 sq. ft. hardcourt facility designed to host basketball, volleyball and other indoor sports competitions year-round.
“The Sports Factory is going to draw thousands of people downtown every month,” said Chris Manuel co-owner of Prairie Street Brewing Co. and Owly Oop. “When the Rockford Park District invited us to bid to be the concessionaire, we didn’t hesitate; we got to work immediately. Planning and building the space has taken a long time, but every second was worth it and we were committed to making it special. We can’t wait to host fellow Rockfordians and visitors from all over at Owly Oop.”
“Sports are a big part of the Rockford economy – bigger than most people realize,” he continued. “We’ve enjoyed catering to all the hockey and ice skating families at Prairie Street Brewing Co. which is right next to Riverview Ice House. Now we’re looking forward to hosting basketball and volleyball enthusiasts at Owly Oop in a building we share.”
Owly Oop’s dining room and patio measures about 3,000 square feet and seats 120 guests with 18 at the bar and an additional 32 on the patio. Being a sports pub, it has high definition TVs scattered throughout the restaurant as well as a gigantic 13-foot “TV wall” behind the bar.
