Widening on I-39/90 begins over the border

Temporary widening work is anticipated to begin next week on Interstate 39/90 southbound, between the County S (Shopiere Road) interchange and the Illinois state line. Crews will also remove and reconstruct the Stateline Road bridge over the Interstate near Beloit.

The Stateline Road bridge is scheduled to be closed to all traffic on Monday, April 3. Alternate local routes are required. The structure will be removed starting the week of April 10-14, and rebuilt and lengthened in the same location by mid-August. Noise is anticipated during the overnight hours from the bridge demolition, construction equipment and backup alarms.

I-39/90 remains open to two lanes in each direction during peak travel times. Nightly single lane closures will occur on the Interstate weeknights from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. within the construction project limits. All lane restrictions and work operations are weather dependent and subject to change. Motorists are reminded to be alert and drive with caution in all work zones.

These projects are expected to be completed in mid-August 2017. For more information visit i39-90.wi.gov.
