Body pulled from Rock River
DOWNTOWN — A body of an elderly man was pulled from a frozen spot of the Rock River Wednesday.
Rockford Fire officials say the body was spotted at around 8 a.m., by a Rockford Park District employee who was salting the bike bath near the Whitman Street Bridge. The man was pronounced dead at the scene.
While a cause of death has not been reported, it is believed the man jumped from the bridge. He was fully clothed but officials did not recover any identification on him. Results of an autopsy and identification of the victim are pending. R.
