Police investigate fatal stabbing

ROCKFORD – The Rockford Police Department is investigating a fatal stabbing that occurred at 7:15 a.m., Friday, in the 2700 block of Norway Pines Road. There, they found 42-year-old Elizabeth Marquez dead from apparent stab wounds. Her husband, 50-year-old Noe Marquez, and two juvenile children were also located inside the home.

Noe Marquez was transported to a local hospital where he was treated for non-life-threatening injuries. The children were unharmed.

During the course of the investigation, detectives were made aware of an incident that occurred at the same residence on Thursday, June 28.  That information was later reviewed by the Winnebago County State’s Attorney’s Office. As a result, charges were authorized against Noe Marquez for the June 28 incident.

Two counts of first-degree murder and two additional charges of aggravated domestic battery were filed against Noe Marquez  Tuesday. He is currently being held on a $10 million bond.

Marquez is lodged in the Winnebago County Jail. He’s currently charged with attempted first-degree murder, aggravated battery with a deadly weapon and aggravated domestic battery. Bond is set at $5 million.
