ROCKFORD — The Rockford Police Department is investigating a homicide after a woman was found dead and man hospitalized with self-inflicted wounds.

At approximately 8:10 p.m., Sunday, Aug. 22, Rockford officers responded to a residence in the 600 block of Bruce Street for reports of two possible gunshot victims.

Officers located two victims, a 19-year-old pregnant female and a 22-year-old male suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. The woman was transported to a local hospital, where she and the unborn baby were pronounced dead.

The male victim was transported to a local hospital for a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head. He is listed in critical condition as of this report.
