Police ask for public’s help locating Rockford burglary suspects

ROCKFORD — The Rockford Police Department is asking for the public’s assistance locating three men they say committed burglary to three businesses.

The first incident happened at approximately 10:20 p.m. at the BP gas station at 1620 Rural Street. According to a press release, the suspects threw rocks to break the front glass door, and one of the suspects jumped onto the counter and removed the cash register. All three suspects fled on foot.

At around 10:55 p.m., police responded to Sandy Hollow Food & Liquor, 4302 Sandy Hollow Road and learned that three suspects smashed through the door and stole several bottles of liquor. They left the scene in a dark-colored sedan.

The suspects in the Sandy Hollow burglary match the description of the suspects in the burglary on Rural Street, police said.

Police say the same suspects struck again at around 3:34 p.m., Tuesday, at the Shell station, 3202 S. Alpine Road. The men entered trough a smashed window and removed part of the cash register and fled the scene.
