Talley’s Folly – In the midst of holiday chaos, set aside 97 minutes to sit by a river on a moonlit summer night in Talley’s Folly. Artists’ Ensemble presents this Pulitzer Prize-winning romance December 2-18 in the Cheek Theater at Rockford University.  It is 1944 and Matt Friedman has traveled from St. Louis to rural Lebanon, Missouri in pursuit of Sally Talley. He has written to her every day for a year but she remains full of doubts about a future with him. He’s older, he’s Jewish, he’s an immigrant from Eastern Europe, he wears a beard, her family (except for Aunt Lottie) hates him. Matt is prepared to sweep all those objections aside when Sally reluctantly meets him at the old abandoned boat house on her family’s farm. This is Matt’s final chance to win her over. Talley’s Folly will perform in the intimate Cheek Theatre at Rockford University December 2-18. Performances are on Thursdays at 7:30 p.m., Fridays at 8, Saturdays at 4 and 8, and Sundays at 2 o’clock. Thursday tickets are $19. All other performances are $30, $28 for seniors, and $10 for students. Tickets may be purchased at www.artistsensemble.org or through the box office at 815-394-5004. This production is recommended for middle school age and up.
