As long as further development is allowed to progress even though it impacts existing property owners this scenario will be repeated as each new parcel of land is developed.

Storm water drainage is a regional problem which cannot be resolved by local improvements and as the area surrounding the current area under discussion is further developed the problems will increase. Each phase of development without planning for storm water retention will only aggravate the current situation.

Past decisions regarding development in the area in question now cause us all too pay for the remedies which must now be put in place.

Who in Rockford would believe that rain water from Ogle County and Carroll Counties drains through Rockford? It’s true, the northeast corner of Carroll and the northwest corner of Ogle drain north, eventually north, the water eventually reaching the Pecatonica River which runs through Freeport eventually finding its way to the Sugar and then the Rock River at Rockton.

I have read and heard articles of wood that needs to be cut down for heating the houses up in the Pine Ridge Reservation in South Dakota. I am very interested in coming up there with a few other men from my area to use our skills and knowledge to help cut, split and stack the wood for this winter to help out. If at all possible could you direct me to the person in charge of setting up a time to come up and help out with this situation. Sue Johnson’s excellent coverage of the presentations at the Feb. 20th Tea Party Town Hall at Stockholm Inn was a credit to her journalistic talent and mastery of detail. We purposely kept presentations short at the event, hoping to whet the public’s appetite for information, and I think we succeeded. Our first Tea Party meeting as Northern IL Tea Party in Roscoe on Feb. 25th was well attended, and we have ideas for citizen action to turn this boat around! Aside from the rampant, simplistic soliloquies I’ve come to expect from the teabagging crowd, I would think that this highly biased “information” should appear in the opinion section and not be sold as “news”. It is not written in an objective manner, it is highly sympathetic in tone, it is basically an opinion piece. That’s where this should be.

This really doesn't surprise me at all. I'd say most dog bites result from fear-based aggression. The problem is that most people don't understand how to read dog body language and tell when a dog is going to react aggressively. Being able to read your dog's emotions through body language is a very important part of what I teach people about Jack Russell training.

The Times article (Part 1) by Ms. Johnson about the recent “Tea Party” in Rockford omits mention of the presentation on the FairTax. The FairTax (H.R. 25)is proposed legislation now in congressional and senate committees that will create a federal uniform sales tax to replace our present confusing and confiscatory federal Income Tax.

Dr. Hallsten, with all due respect, should make sure the information being fed to him is factual before he continues to pontificate on an incident he did not witness.
As a clinical psychologist, Dr. Hallsten knows that it is inappropriate to analyze the actions of, and speculate on the fitness for duty of, two officers he has never spoken to.
This attempt to discredit two officers, who’s accounts of the Barmore shooting were verified by factual, non-disputable, physical evidence is unprofessional to say the least.

A teacher at Kennedy got assaulted last week by a student. The paperwork has to go through Dr. Sheffield before an assault charge can be filed. She has to decide if the teacher was actually assaulted before going after the thug that attacked her. To hear the description by the teacher, she was assaulted.

I’m a hunter and have seen many coyotes.
On Feb.4th 2010 I saw a wolf. I did a double take to make sure. Slowing my car down, I saw a side view as it turned its head to look at me before it headed off into the brush. It was about 40 yards away from the side of the road.
Time was about 5:30pm place, IL Rt 59 just north of Rt72 South of Penny Rd west side of the street. This was a 90lb plus animal.

I have worked with students for many years. You are on target with the idea that we should work for delay, total abtinence is not going to happen.

I can not get anyone to listen to my idea on how to help the american citizens. Most of us lost alot of our 401k funds 50, 60, 70%. my suggestion is to eliminate the income tax penalty close to 40% on those accounts, at least the public could regain much of there losses. Now they can pay there house payments, credit card bills, buy new cars, tv’s. All which would help the banking industry, the automobile makers, constuction workers, and give people a better chance at advancing their careers. So it puts money into the tax system, the business sector, creates jobs because more goods are being sold and transported, and most of all it would make the american people feel like their government actually cares about them. Instead we help the financial institutions that primarily lost our money. I wish I was a congressman so that I could get this message out maybee you can for me?

I do hope that TRRT or some other reputable news organization is looking into the $5.1 million contract with Evans-Newton Inc (ENI). This arrangement was recommended by Dr. Sheffield based on little or no input from Rockford teachers. Most of them would have suggested many other ways to spend less money but achieve greater results. One soluton that has been well documented in numerous academic studies, is to hire more teachers to reduce class size. This would be especially valuable in the west side schools, where the economy has caused the most challenges to families. Also, ENI does not seem to be quite up to the task. Teachers in the program are not happy with it.
