7th Annual Crossroads Blues Festival – Lyran Park, 4781 S. Bend Road. Opens at 11 a.m. and music goes from noon to at least 9:30 p.m. Check it out at crossroadsbluesfestival.com. Reverend Peyton’s Big Damn Band, Tad Robinson, Ghost Town Blues Band, Joanna Connor, the Flaming Mudcats & Birddog and Beck will entertain all day.  $5 in advance, $10 at the door.

2016 Summer Jam – Miss Linda Evans, daughter of the late great Bernard Wilson of Harold Melvin and the Bluenotes, has brought together a plethora of great musicians comprised of players from Earth, Wind and Fire, The Isley Brothers, Ohio Players, and more! They have come together to back the vocals for Sapphires’ Blue Notes. Sapphires’ Blue Notes is a multi-faceted conglomeration of musicians dedicated to the lovers of Old School Music, and they bring it to the stage with a presence of greatness that few performers ever achieve. Sapphires’ Blue Notes, will be hosting, along with other bands, a 16-hour music extravaganza known as the 2016 Summer Jam, locally, at the Mendelsson Performing Arts Center right here in Rockford, starting at 8 a.m. Tickets are just $15 in advance, $25 at the door, and are selling out quickly so hurry to get yours. Tickets for Sapphires’ Blue Notes Summer Jam are available from the Mendelsson Performing Arts Center, and online at WQOR.net, and Eventbright.com.
