Herdeman Kelly Duo – Classically trained Emily Herdeman Kelly (violin) and Joshua Kelly (viola) will be joined by Christina Giuca Krause on a 9-foot Steinway grand piano and Dowd harpsichord to perform works old to new, spanning from Mozart to Scottish folk music to a world premiere performance by contemporary composer Christopher Walczak and more. This upbeat and diverse program celebrates the heritage of Baroque, Classical, and Folk while embracing modern perspectives of the instruments. Performance will take place at the Mendelssohn Performing Arts Center, 406 N. Main St. Tickets are $25 in advance for adults, $30 at the door; and $5 in advance for students, $7 at the door. Gang-A-Tsui with Avalon String Quartet – This unique cross-cultural concert will introduce Nanguan ancient Classical Chinese music and theater and explore how these traditions are extending into the 21st century. Newly composed pieces will be presented by Taiwanese group Gang-A-Tsui with guest collaborators and MPAC favorites Avalon String Quartet through an interactive workshop-style concert to provide insight into this intimate form of traditional music. Performance will take place at the Mendelssohn Performing Arts Center, 406 N. Main St. Tickets are $25 in advance for adults, $30 at the door; and $5 in advance for students, $7 at the door. Suite to Suite – Explore the evolution of the musical suite from the 14th century dancing to 19th century jazz as we welcome some of the region’s best area musicians to our main stage. The concert begins with soloists Michael Beert (cellist) and Jesse Parker (pianist) performing Baroque and Romantic Suites respectively and concludes with Claude Bolling’s “Toot Suite” featuring Mark Baldin (trumpet), Joel Ross (piano), Jim McDowell (bass), and Brian Webber (percussion.
