Last days for tickets for 2018 Arts Awards

ROCKFORD — Tickets are still available for the 2018 Rockford Area Arts Awards show, coming next Wednesday, Feb. 21.

Enjoy an evening of visual arts, performances and music, the Rockford Area Arts Council and civic leaders honor the artists, performers, planners and doers who bring beauty to our eyes, and joy to our hearts and souls.




Awards will be given for:

  • Individual Artist, honoring an artist whose artistic achievements have generated a significant and positive impact on the community.
  • The Community Impact Award will honor a corporation/business which recognizes the importance of the arts through financial or in-kind support, use of the arts in the workplace, and/or encouragement of employees to volunteer for the arts or otherwise serves as an advocate for the arts.
  • The Arts Advocate Award will go to an individual for exceptional efforts in advocacy, support, and/or volunteerism in the arts.
  • And the Creative Cultural Arts Event recognizes an exhibit, performance, festival, series or special cultural arts event during the 2016-2017 season which brought heightened visibility to the arts.

This year’s nominees include: Caitlyn and Meghan Baylor; Jenny Mathews; Sherry Pritz; Chuck Prorok and Marcia Mueller; The Arc of Winnebago; Boone & Ogle Counties “Project Art;” Rockford Symphony Orchestra “Oz with Orchestra;” “The Rockford City Dance Festival;” and The Music Academy “Heartstrings: Connections Between Music & Medicine.”




The Arts Council, Mayor Tom McNamara and Winnebago County Chairman Frank Haney will present the 2018 Rockford Area Arts Awards, 5-7 p.m. Feb. 21 at the Rockford Art Museum, 711 N. Main St.
