ROSEMONT — Rockford IceHogs rookie Victor Ejdsell notched the winning goal in triple overtime Thursday to cap a three-game sweep of the Chicago Wolves in the first round of the Calder Cup Playoffs.
With less than three minutes left in the third overtime, Ejdsell beat Maxime Lagace from the right-wing circle at the end of a Rockford power play to end the five-hour affair. The goal was Ejdsell’s second of the contest.
It was the longest game in IceHogs history and the eighth-longest in the American Hockey League. Rockford advances to the Central Division Finals, where they will face either Grand Rapids or Manitoba. R.
