ROCKFORD – Four men were jailed after the Rockford Police Department’s SCOPE Team conducted an undercover prostitution sting in the area of 7th Street and Broadway Monday.

Each suspect was charged with solicitation of sex act and their vehicles were impounded. Charged were Christopher Brown, 46, of Rockford; Robert Moll, 62, of Williams Bay, Wisconsin; Zachariah Singletary, 32, of Rockford; and Keith Welch, 34, of Belvidere.

The sting, which commonly involves undercover female officers posing as prostitutes, was part of the police department’s “end demand” approach to fighting prostitution.

Solicitation of a sex act is a Class A misdemeanor. R.
