Woman dragged from SUV during domestic dispute

ROCKFORD – A teen has been jailed after a Rockford woman was dragged by an SUV during a domestic dispute with a family member.

Just before 10 p.m., Monday officers were called to a residence in the 2500 block of Rural Street where a 45-year-old woman said she’d been in an argument with a 17-year-old male family member when he drove off in her Cadillac SUV.

The victim opened the passenger door and attempted to get the suspect to stop. Instead, he accelerated, dragging the victim a short distance. She sustained non-life threatening injuries.




Less than one hour later, officers responded to an accident at the intersection of Washington
and East State streets. The driver of a white Cadillac SUV struck a vehicle and a tree, before the SUV caught fire. The driver fled and foot but was located. He was identified as the
same suspect from the Rural Street incident.

The teen was lodged in lodged in the Winnebago County Juvenile Detention Center He was charged with aggravated battery with a vehicle, hit and run, driving after revocation, failure to reduce speed to avoid accident, and obstructing identification. R.
