Three shows left in Music in the Park concert series

ROCKFORD – There are three shows left in the 2018 Music in the Park concert series at the Sinnissippi Music Shell.

Two of the performances are makeup dates that were postponed due to weather, and have been rescheduled for the week of Aug. 7.

Thursday Aug. 2 – American English Beatles Tribute
American English is simply the best Beatles tribute story of our time. At the inception of the band, they were voted “number one” by thousands of Beatles fans as winners of soundalike contests at Beatlefest for three consecutive years. American English is the closest you will ever get to reliving The Beatles.




Tuesday, Aug. 7 – Gizzae
Hailing from the beautiful Caribbean island of Dominica, the ancient and holy lands of Ethiopia, and the birthplace of humanity, Ghana, Africa, comes the award-winning reggae music of Gizzae. Their musical experiences have collectively earned them Grammy®awards, Chicago Music Awards, and they have opened for some of the biggest names in reggae. (Rescheduled from June 21.

Thursday, Aug. 9 – Blooze Brothers
High-powered choreographed 11-piece show band covers music from the 1940s to today: Motown, soul, R&B, classic rock, and swing, and performs the music and crazy antics of the famous original Blues Brothers! Show features an appearance by the Bloozemobile. (Rescheduled from July 19.)

Concession food, as well as beer and wine, will be available for purchase at all Music in the Park concerts.

The Music in the Park series is presented by MembersAlliance Credit Union, and co-sponsored by Rose Pest Solutions.




The series is part of the Park District’s Sounds of Summer free outdoor concert and performance series at three locations, designed to meet the diverse entertainment interests of the community by providing a variety of musical genres and entertainment performances. The series is also comprised of Live at Levings and Domingos en el Parque at Levings Park, and Tunes on the Terrace at Nicholas Conservatory & Gardens.

Music in the Park is of the many free events and programs provided by the Rockford Park District. Volunteers will collect a suggested $5 donation from each patron at the Blooze Brothers August 9 concert to help defray the costs of presenting top-notch performers. This program is supported in part by the Illinois Arts Council Agency, the City of Rockford, and the Rockford Area Arts Council.
