Baseball: Big inning pushes Bullfrogs past Rivets

Staff Report

LOVES PARK – The Green Bay Bullfrogs logged a five-run seventh inning to down the Rockford Rivets 9-5 here Friday night.

At the end the sixth inning, the Rivets led the Bullfrogs 5-3 after four consecutive innings of putting runs on the board. The Bullfrogs would respond in the seventh with five runs by stringing together a series of hits while aided by the Rivets’ defensive miscues.

The Rivets would get two more runs back before games end. However, six errors were too much to overcome.

Brendan Krob made his first start behind the plate for Rockford and reached base three times with two hits, a walk and an RBI. Leadoff hitter Parker Kelly scored two runs, and Tim Lilly also had two hits.

Jimmy Burnette had another solid performance on the mound for the Rivets, pitching five innings and allowing one earned run with six strikeouts. R.
