Men escape nursing home to attend heavy metal festival

Staff Report

WACKEN, Germany – Two men wandered away from their nursing home Friday night to attend the Wacken Open Air heavy metal festival.

According to the Deutsche Welle, police found the men around 3 a.m., at the four-day festival, the largest metal event in the world. They were “disoriented and dazed,” but did not want to leave. Police were eventually able to put the men in a taxi and escort them back to the nursing home.

“They obviously liked the metal festival,” police spokeswoman Merle Neufeld told public broadcaster Norddeutscher Rundfunk. “The care home quickly organized a return transport after police picked them up.”

Headliners at this year’s Open Air included Judas Priest, Danzig, Hatebreed and Vince Neil.

The festival drew more than 75,000 fans. R.
