ROCKFORD – The Rockford Police Department is investigating a fatal shooting that happened in the 2200 block of Sharon Avenue early Saturday morning,

Officers arrived on the scene at approximately 5 a.m., and located a Hispanic male suffering from an gunshot wound lying in the street. Rockford Fire Department also responded and transported the victim to a local hospital where he later died.

The name of the victim is not being released at this time, pending notification of the family.

No suspect information is available as of this report. Police are urging anyone with information to call the Rockford Police Department at 815-966-2900. R.
