Rockford Police probe three armed robberies

ROCKFORD – The Rockford Police Department is investigating three armed robberies that occurred withing the last two days.

The first incident happened at 7 a.m.,Tuesday, Sept. 18 in the 3200 block of Gilbert Avenue. The victim claimed he walked into his garage when the suspect held him up, knocked him to the ground and hit him with a handgun. Detectives from the Violent Crimes Unit conducted a follow-up investigation and determined that the incident was the result of a dispute over a drug deal.

At around 10: 30 p.m., Tuesday, officers responded to the 1500 block of South Central Avenue in
reference to an armed robbery of a pizza delivery driver. There, they learned three male suspects demanded pizzas and money and the driver was hit once in the face. The suspects fled. One is described as a Hispanic male, 6-0, 150 pounds and was last seen wearing a white sweatshirt.

At approximately 1 a.m., On Wednesday, Sept. 19, a male victim was trying to buy drugs in the 1100 block of South Church Street when three suspects beat him with a handgun and robbed him
of his belongings and vehicle. Anyone with information is urged to call police. R.
