Hockey: Blackhawks send Dahlstrom, Tuulola to Rockford

ROCKFORD – The Chicago Blackhawks on Tuesday announced they have assigned defensemen Carl Dahlstrom and Joni Tuulola to the Rockford IceHogs.

Dahlstrom, 23, capped a standout year with the IceHogs in 2017-18 with a career-high 28 points (3g, 25a) and +14 rating in 64 AHL contests. The 6-4, 223-lbs blueliner was selected to the 2018 AHL All-Star Classic and shared the team lead in scoring during the showcase with assists at the event. Dahlstrom then earned a promotion to the Blackhawks during February and became the 100th IceHogs alumni to play in the NHL when he made his debut on Feb. 10 at Minnesota.

Tuulola, 22, completed his fifth consecutive season in the Finnish Elite League, SM-lliga, in 2017-18, skating in all but one of Vaasan Sport’s 59 games and establishing career-high marks with seven goals, 23 assists, 30 points and 59 penalty minutes. The 6-3, 181-lbs defensemen signed a Professional Tryout (PTO) Agreement with Rockford on March 23 and made his AHL debut with the IceHogs on March 6 at Texas.

The IceHogs camp roster now comprises 23 forwards, 12 defensemen and five goaltenders.
