ROCKFORD – Nine area high school football games were postponed because of lightning Friday, including two in the NIC-10.

Of the NIC-10 games that did commence as scheduled, East clipped Jefferson 38-34 to improve to 5-2. Harlem blanked Belvidere 41-0 while Boylan blew out Freeport 41-0 in the Titans’ homecoming game.

The Guilford vs. Belvidere North and Auburn vs. Hononegah games were postponed and will be rescheduled.

In other action, Byron defeated Rockford Lutheran 42-8, and Du-Pec outlasted East Dubuque 26-14.
