AHL: Raddysh powers IceHogs to 3-2 win at Milwaukee
Staff Report
MILWAUKEE – Darren Raddysh scored the game’s final two goals to propel the Rockford IceHogs to a 3-2 overtime victory over the Milwaukee Admirals at UW-Milwaukee Panther Arena Friday.
With the IceHogs entering the third trailing 2-1, Raddysh provided the tying tally. Forward Jacob Nilsson found Raddysh on the rush as the defenseman was trailing the play, and Raddysh converted on a blistering one-timer.
Raddysh netted the winner in overtime on another one-timer. The IceHogs were able to play the possession game and wear down the Milwaukee defense as a delayed penalty gave them a 4-on-3 advantage, allowing Victor Ejdsell to dish the puck to Raddysh on the left circle for the killing blow.
Milwaukee’s Zach Magwood started the scoring at the 14:02 mark of the first period. Then Dylan Sikura responded for the IceHogs with 3:01 remaining in the frame off a feed from Nilsson. Nilsson created the chance by initiating an odd-man rush just moments after being set free from the penalty box.
Magwood tallied the only goal of the second period with his second marker of the game, giving the Admirals the 2-1 lead that would set the stage for Raddysh’s heroics.
The IceHogs were able to reach overtime thanks in large part to stout performances from the penalty-killing unit and goaltender Anton Forsberg. The IceHogs foiled all seven Milwaukee power-play opportunities and Forsberg stopped 22 shots in his first win with Rockford.
