Rockford residents nabbed in Naperville drug bust

NAPERVILLE – Two Rockford residents are charged with possession with the intent to deliver marijuana after being arrested Sunday.

According to the Naperville Police Department, Edwin Mendoza, 27, and Melissa Tavares, 23, both of Rockford, were arrested at around 8 p.m., Sunday after police were dispatched to the 4600 block of Fesseneva Court. 

Police say they recovered 68 pounds of marijuana, $4,000 in cash and two vehicles. The value of the marijuana is estimated at $311,000.

It is believed the property was rented through an online real estate website for the purpose of concealing marijuana.

A California man, 22-year-old Cristian Valdivia, is charged with cannabis trafficking, possession with intent to deliver and possession of cannabis.

All three suspects are lodged in the Will County Jail. R.
