Man wanted in fatal Rockford shooting in custody

ROCKFORD — A suspect in a fatal shooting at a Rockford gas station last fall is now behind bars.
Marquell Longs, 26, was arrested by the U.S. Marshalls Fugitive Task Force shortly after 2 p.m. Thursday in the 1600 block of 10th Street.
Longs was wanted for a deadly shooting that occurred on Sunday, Nov. 11, 2018, in the parking of Citgo, 4315 Auburn St.
Thirty-seven-year-old Jennifer Jones died as a result of injuries she sustained in the incident, and a second shooting victim was hospitalized.
Detectives and officers of the Rockford Police Department conducted the follow-up investigation that led to charges of first-degree murder, aggravated battery with firearm, aggravated discharge of a firearm and unlawful use of a weapon by a felon.
Longs is being held without bond in the Winnebago County Jail. R.
