Blackhawks recall Henri Jokiharju ahead of home tilt against Avalanche

CHICAGO — The Chicago Blackhawks announced today that they have recalled defenseman Henri Jokiharju on an emergency basis from the Rockford IceHogs.

Jokiharju has split time with the IceHogs and Blackhawks this season. In nine games with Rockford, he had nine points (1G, 8A), including tallying a point (7A) in his last four consecutive games. He notched his first professional goal on Feb. 1 in his IceHogs debut.

Originally selected by the Blackhawks in the first round (29th overall) of the 2017 National Hockey League Draft, Jokiharju has 12 assists in 37 games with Chicago during his rookie campaign this season.

A native of Oulu, Finland, he helped his country to a gold medal at the 2019 IIHF World Junior Championship in January. He notched five points (2G, 3A) in seven games for Team Finland during the tournament.
