Rockford man sentenced to 35 years for sexual abuse of child

ROCKFORD — A Rockford man has been sentenced to 35 years in prison after being found guilty of sexually abusing a child.

Juan Barradas-Ferral, 28, was found guilty of predatory criminal sexual assault of a child and aggravated criminal sexual abuse after a bench trial in front of Judge John Lowry last month.

Between Sept. 1, 2014 and March 25, 2015 Barradas-Ferral was engaged in a sexual relationship with a minor. The relationship came to light when Rockford Police Officers responded to a call for service at Coco Key Water Park inside the Clock Tower Resort. Various patrons observed this defendant engaged in inappropriate sexual contact with the victim. Barradas-Ferral was later arrested.

Barradas-Ferral was ordered to serve eight years for  four counts of predatory criminal sexual assault of a child is a Class X felony punishable by a sentence of six to 60 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections and three years to natural life on parole. He was sentenced to three years for aggravated criminal sexual abuse, a Class 2 felony with a sentencing range of of three to seven years behind bars. R.
