Third suspect in Rockford homicide arrested in Georgia

ROCKFORD — The third and final suspect wanted in connection with a November 2018 homicide is now in the Winnebago County Jail.

Devontai Dotson, 28, was extradited back to Rockford Friday, March 29, after he was taken into custody in Georgia. Dotson was wanted on a murder warrant in the deadly shooting at the Citgo gas station at 4315 Auburn St.

Shortly before 1 a.m., Sunday, November 11, 2018, patrol officers from the Rockford Police Department responded to a shooting incident in Citgo parking lot. During the course of the investigation, officers located a 37-year-old Jennifer Jones, who died as a result of gunshot wounds.

A second gunshot victim, a 25-year-old man, was also located and treated at a local hospital.

The investigation was reviewed by the Winnebago County State’s Attorney’s Office and
charges were authorized against three suspects: Marquell Longs, Antonio Sago II, and
Dotson. All three men are now lodged in the Winnebago County Jail. Bond has been set at $10 million. R.
