Suspect at large in Rockford hit-and-run

ROCKFORD — Police say a man is still at large after a hit-and-run crash on the city’s far-east side sent three people to the hospital Friday morning.

Police say at around 10:45 a.m., the suspect vehicle, a white SUV, was traveling north on Bell School Road when it ran a stoplight at East State Street and collided with a black westbound car driven by a 44-year-old man.

The SUV continued north, jumped the median and continued in the southbound lanes, police said. It then hit a gray vehicle driven by an 80-year-old man. The suspect exited the SUV and fled the area on foot.

The driver of the gray car, his his female passenger, and the driver of the black car were transported to a local hospital and treated for minor injuries.

The suspect is described as a black male wearing a gray sweatshirt.

Details about the suspect vehicle have not been released as of this report. Anyone with information is urged to call police. R.
