Woman charged with arson in fire at Rockford strip mall

ROCKFORD — A woman has been arrested for allegedly setting fire to a Rockford business last month.
Rosie E. Bailey, 53, is charged with arson and criminal damage to property.
At approximately 11:20 a.m., March 20, officers with the Rockford Police Department were on patrol when they saw Bailey standing alone on the corner near 917 School St. Prosecutors say moments later, the officers noticed a fire begin to rise from the corner of a nearby strip mall.
Bailey was developed as a suspect during the investigation and recently indicted by a grand jury.
Arson is a Class 2 felony with as sentencing range of three to seven years in prison.
Criminal damage to property is a Class A misdemeanor, punishable by probation or up to a year in jail.
Bailey is in custody at the Winnebago County Jail. She is scheduled to be arraigned at 9 a.m., April 25, in Courtroom B of the Winnebago County Justice Center. R.
