Middle Schools: West, Flinn dominate all-city track meet

ROCKFORD – The West Warriors boys track team and Flinn’s girls track team dominated Saturday’s Genelle Samuelson All City Championships.

The Warriors scored 121 points, while Eisenhower and Flinn tied for second at 65 points, in the boys meet.

Flinn finished first in the girls meet with 100 points, followed by Marshall with 73 points and Eisenhower with 72.

There were five records broken in the girls meet.

  • Mackenzie Turley of Flinn set a new discus record with a throw of 83-7.
  • Flinn’s Michelle Gasmund set the record in both the 400 and 800 meters. She ran the 400 in 1:03.00 and the 800 in 2:33.29.
  • Flinn’s 4×400 relay team set a new record with a time of 4:48.96.
  • Eisenhower’s 4×100 relay team set a new mark with a :52.36.
