Police say the shooting happened around 11 p.m., in 300 block of Albert Ave. Officers were called to the scene for a shots-fired report and found the victim lying in the street. The coroner pronounced him dead at the scene. The victim’s name is being withheld pending notification of his family.

Details are minimal at this time. The incident marks Rockford’s seventh homicide of 2019.
