Rockford police investigate east-side shooting

UPDATE: A man who showed up at a Rockford hospital told police he was in his car with three children near Hunter Avenue and Broadmoor Drive when a person in another vehicle opened fire. It is not known whether anyone else was injured; the victim’s injuries are not life-threatening.

ROCKFORD – The Rockford Police Department is investigating a shooting that happened on the city’s east side Monday afternoon.

According to the department’s Twitter page at 1:40 p.m., officers are investigating the incident in the area of Hunter Avenue and Broadmoor Drive, and there is at least one victim.

“Detectives from the Rockford Police Department’s Violent Crimes Unit are conducting a
follow-up investigation into the incident; however, the victim is currently uncooperative,” Rockford Police Public Information Officer Christie Castillo said in a statement.
