ROCKFORD – Two men charged in the death of a Rockford rapper have posted bond.
William Arzate, 22, of Rockford, is charged with two counts of first-degree murder, and single counts of concealment of a homicidal death and obstructing justice. Manuel Ramirez, 22, of Rockford, faces charges of concealment of a homicidal death and obstructing justice. Both men pleaded not guilty Thursday. Their charges stem from the death of 23-year-old William Pickering, a rapper known as Billy Da Kid and EBE Bandz.
Pickering’s body was found last month outside the city. Police believe he was killed in Rockford.
Arzate’s bail is set at $1 million. Sources say he posted $100,000 and was released Monday. Ramirez had his bond reduced from $500,000 to $25,000, and was released July 1 after posting $2,500.
Arzate is due back in court Aug. 6. Ramirez’s next court appearance is Sept. 10.
