ROCKFORD – Two people are dead after a shooting in the 200 block of Hutchins Avenue Monday night.

Police say officers were called to the area at around 8:30 p.m., and found a man suffering from gunshots wounds. He died at the scene. Another man was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead.

While details are minimal, police say both victims are in their early 20s and that the incident is being investigated as a double homicide.

The incident marks the third shooting of the day in Rockford. At approximately 10:30 a.m., a man was shot several times through his apartment door. His injuries were not life threatening. At around 10 p.m., a woman was also hit with gunfire while she was inside her apartment in the  3300 block of Darwood Drive. She is expected to survive.
