ROCKFORD – A woman was robbed while she was changing a tire Sunday on the city’s west side. 

Police say at about 1:15 p.m., the 30-year-old victim was approached by a man who offered to help her fix the flat tire near West State Street and Klines Avenue. During their initial exchange, the man pulled a handgun and took the woman’s purse, cash, and other items before fleeing the scene. 

The woman walked to the Citgo station at 2914 W. State St. and called police. 

The suspect is described as a black male about 30 years old. He had a beard, scratches on his face and several gold teeth. He is approximately 5-9 and 150 pounds.
