UPDATE: Th victim in Thursday’s homicide on Hunter Avenue has been identified as 28-year-old Patrick Mack Jr.
ROCKFORD – One man was pronounced dead at a local hospital Thursday after being shot on the city’s near-east side.
Police say at approximately 7 a.m., Rockford patrol officers responded to a shots-fired call at a residence in the 300 block of Hunter Avenue and found a 28-year-old man suffering from gunshot wounds inside the garage.
The victim was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead. His identity is not being released at this time. He is the city’s 18th homicide victim.
Detectives from the Rockford Police Department are conducting a follow-up investigation.
